iPhone Boom Mic by Belkin
The iPhone has a great built-in microphone, but even with its quality there are times you could use something a little better. The advantage of the iPhone Boom Mic by Belkin is directional ability. The standard mic in an iPhone is omni-directional attempting to pick up sounds from every direction in the room. This small boom mic lets you focus your audio pickup from the location of the action.
This feature is very handy when you are using your iPhone to record lectures at school, children’s events at school, or when recording yourself for broadcasting on YouTube or other video services. You get higher quality audio recording without carrying around a secondary recording device or a large microphone.
The Belkin iPhone Boom Mic is only 4.6 long and about 1.5″ wide at the widest point. It weighs less than one ounce. You clip the boom mic onto your iPhone, adjust the direction it points, and start recording. If you do a lot of video or audio recording on your iPhone, this is a great add-on. At a cost of less than $25 through Amazon, it is a great value.
Belkin built-in two different recording modes. The first is the standard directional which covers an angle of about 90 degrees. Their super directional mode tightens the cone down to approximately 20 degrees allowing you to focus your audio capturing.
