Hornung and Jacobi faced a unique challenge when they accepted the commission to build a getaway home on the beach. The site was located behind a beachfront sidewalk with a large stone wall that would impede the view to the ocean. How could they overcome this barrier and produce a home that is a true masterpiece at the same time? The Villa F project fulfilled the demands and so much more.
The home is an amazing site with the wedge shape, sharp angles, and stark white color. The living space of the home is all situated one story up. Ground level holds only a small section of home, a large swimming pool, and a great shaded deck area with shading provided by the house above.
The living space stretches up above the stone wall giving the home owners the ability to see the ocean from almost any room. The interior design is very open to allow sunshine and air to flow easily through the home. There is a ground level study to the side of the house, an incredible deck area, and winding staircases that lead you between floors. The bottom level includes a carport built into the side of hill. The home is constructed from prefabricated timber and plaster to keep the costs lower and due to the home being used only as a getaway vacation home.
