Volkswagen XL Sport Concept
Do you remember the old movie’s featuring Herbie the racing VW Beetle? We knew it had not basis in reality, but now Volkswagen is teasing us with a new sports car concept that leads us to believe they are ready to go fast. The Volkswagen XL Sport Concept is the sportiest car to come out of the company renowned for its un-sporty economic designs. The XL Sport Concept does not stray too far from VW’s roots, though. The car is powered by a Ducati Superleggera V-Twin engine boasting 197 HP, making it one of the smallest engines in a fantastic looking sports car. The XL Sport zips from 0-62 MPH in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 168 MPH. While it may not compete in performance with Ferrari, Lamborghini, or a Chevy Corvette, it could become the next sports car for the masses.
The XL Sport Concept debuted at the Paris Motor Show. Would you invest in a sports car with a two-cylinder engine? We can only hope that VW takes this concept to market.
