Volkswagen’s New XL1 300 MPG Car Is Not Allowed In America Because It’s Too Efficient
Rumors are running wild about the Volkswagen XL1 the famed concept car that can go up to 300 miles per gallon. One rumor suggests the car is being restricted from sale in the USA, but reality is much different. These amazingly efficient cars are being produced in a limited test run of 250 cars for the European market due to less stringent safety rules. The cars feature a tiny diesel/electric 2-cylinder motor of only 1 liter, but when paired with the electric motor is able to accelerate the tiny two-seater to 60 MPH in 11.9 seconds with a top speed of over 90 MPH. The car is expected to retail for a price well over $100,000, but with its sleek style and amazing efficiency may leap off the showroom floors almost instantly. Will the XL1 make it to the USA in future years? Only time will tell, with the most important fact being a successful test run in Europe.
