Pitcairn Island Paradise, The Island Inhabited by Just 48 People
You have probably heard mention of the Mutiny on the Bounty in stories and movies, but did you know it was real? On the tiny volcanic island of Pitcairn, a real tropical paradise, lives 48 of descendants of the Bounty Mutiny. The mutineers were put on the island along with their Polynesian consorts and left to rot. Instead they have lived in a tropical paradise ever since. The residents invite tourists to come visit, but with one caveat. Don’t stay. In order to move to the island you have to submit applications to the Island Council and Governor who infrequently agree.
That may sound harsh, but the citizens are endeavouring to keep their island paradise pure, pristine, beautiful, and inviting, instead of letting it become overgrown with unneeded commerce. An amazing jewel in the South Pacific that would be great to visit, and then get out.
