Google Announces Smart Contact Lens Project to Aid Diabetes Patients
Google’s development team announced a major new breakthrough in wearable electronics with their Smart Contact Lens Project. The project is producing a contact lens to be worn by diabetes patients and reads their glucose levels through their tears. Instead of testing blood many times throughout the day with a painful prick of a needle, diabetes patients will have constant access to their glucose levels and never need to feel the pin prick again. The device is still under development and may take several years to win approval from the FDA, but it once again shows Google is pushing to be on the forefront of not only search engines and data, but the changing ways technology can be created to improve life.
